Here is an easy song for you with a long and multi-layered history. This time we are taking a look at the multi-layered classic “Last Kiss”.

I say multi-layered because this tune was first released by Wayne Cochran in 1961, later made famous by J. Frank Wilson in 1964and the Cavaliers in 1964 and then it was made even more famous again by Pearl Jam some 30 years later.

All you need to play through this song is four open chords and one strumming pattern. Of course the chord chart and jam track are available for you on this page. The chord progression is G major, E minor, C major, and D major. I’m using the four-finger version of the G, E minor, and C chords, but you can use any version that works for you. The strumming pattern is the classic down down up up down up.

The video covers how to play through the song in the easiest way possible, but it also covers some tips to make your strumming a little more interesting. All of these strumming tips will be expounded upon in the upcoming “Strumming Dr.” course that I’m just finishing up the filming for, so keep your eyes and ears out for that.
