"Hey Joe" Solo
Hi fam,
In this video lesson, we are looking at the classic/essential solo from the Jimi Hendrix song “Hey Joe.” This is a fantastic solo to learn if you want to get better at bending, vibrato, and phrasing. It’s also an excellent exercise for using mostly one scale to cover multiple chord changes.
We are in the key of what feels like E minor (G major), but it can also feel like E Mixolydian at times. I’ll explain more about this in the video. Suffice it to say that we are using the E minor pentatonic scale almost exclusively to cover the C-G-D-A-E chord progression.
You can download the TAB and jam track here on this page. Let us know if you have any questions or requests for future videos.
Thanks for watching,
Nate
