Hi Guitar Fam! Dust in the Wind by Kansas is kind of considered required reading if you want to be a well-rounded fingerstyle guitar player. That’s because the pattern used in this song is so foundational for building the coordination you need to play more complex patterns. If you’ve been having trouble making the jump from a beginner to intermediate fingerstyle player, this is exactly the song you need to learn.
The TAB and jam track are here for you, so dig in. If you have any trouble, you can email us support@guitarfam.com or schedule a 1-on-1 video lesson with me. The first one is on the house, so there is no risk. Thanks, and let us know what songs you would like to learn next.
I nostalgically remember trying to learn this song when it first came out. I was 14 or 15 years old, and I don't even recall how I landed on the chords or picking pattern...incorrectly, it turns out. The picking pattern I originally used was incomplete, but it's one I habitually fall back on. It's nice to dive back into this song and relearn it correctly 🙂
