Fractal FM3 vs. Line 6 HX Stomp

Hey fam,

I recently did some trading to acquire a Fractal FM3, so I figured I would do a little gear comparison video between it and the Line 6 HX Stomp. In my opinion, these are two of the best units for recording directly at home, playing live through a PA, or just practicing electric guitar or bass at home. The video has plenty of sound samples and pros and cons for each unit.

The HX Stomp wins for portability, price, and ease of use, while the FM3 wins for feel, tweaking options, and versatility. Let me know your opinion on what you hear by commenting on the video.

Thanks for watching,

Nate

Fractal FM3 Pros

Better feel overall

Faster to dial in a great-sounding tone quickly

More CPU power and footswitch functions

More tweakable. (this can be a pro or con depending on your point of view)

More amps and cabs

XLR outs

Line 6 HX Stomp Pros

Smaller, more convenient, and more portable

Easier to learn quickly and navigate

Lower price

Helix Native plugin avoids the hassle of re-amping

Fractal FM3 Cons

More complicated to learn

Bigger and heavier

More expensive

Line 6 HX Stomp Cons

Feel isn’t as good as the FM3

CPU limitations compared to the FM3

Requires more fiddling around to get sounds I like
